My Story

I discovered my love of patchwork quilting and applique when I was living in Asia. In the midst of the hussle and bussle of Phnom Penh, I stumbled upon a shop selling the most beautiful, handcrafted quilts. Since then, I haven't looked back. On return to Kuala Lumpur, where I was working in an American International School, I sought out and began attending patchwork and quilting classes. Here I began to develop my craft. My first piece was a quilt for my grandson, Darragh.

I continued to experiment during subsequent years while living and working in Jordan. When my time abroad came to an end, I returned home to Ireland. My daughter Niamh, a professional photographer, suggested that I make and frame individual scenes. Thus began my journey with The Patchwork Peacock.

My fabric collection is sourced from my travels all over the world. The piece you purchase could have fabric from places as far apart as Malaysia, Seattle, Victoria Island and local Irish quilting shops..

I continue to make the pieces in my home in between caring for our six grandchildren, two rescue donkeys, two rescue cats, six hens and a rescue dog called Nina.

My hope is that those who own one of my pieces derive as much joy from their chosen piece as I did from making it.
